New to MSNBC, Emily most recently worked with the Digital team at 270 Strategies, working with nonprofit, political, and corporate clients on strategic planning to expand and improve their online presence.
Prior to 270 Strategies, Samsel worked for President Obama's re-election campaign in Chicago as a member of the Digital Organizing team. She was the project manager for Airwolf, a groundbreaking email tool used to automatically remind voters where and when to cast their ballot, among other use cases. Additionally, she served as the deputy to the three regional digital directors who managed digital staff and volunteers in all 50 states and ran unique digital programs in each. As a member of the digital department for more than 16 months, Samsel played an integral role in the success of the 2012 Obama Campaign.
A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Samsel received her B.A. in Political Science from the George Washington University this year.
